Safer Neighbourhood Team – Weapon Sweep Operations & School Engagement

From 18th to 24th May, the Safer Neighbourhood Team will be conducting weapon sweep operations across key locations within the community in order to support Metropolitan Police initiative Op Sceptre. These proactive measures aim to enhance public safety, reduce the risk of concealed weapons, and provide reassurance to residents.

School-Based Activity

Alongside community operations, a number of activities are proposed within schools, with schools taking the lead role in delivery. These include:

Weapon sweeps on school premises

Delivery of knife crime awareness sessions.

The Op Sceptre aims to:

Reduce the presence of weapons in the community and schools

Deter individuals from carrying or concealing weapons

Increase awareness of the risks and consequences of knife crime

Empower schools to deliver effective preventative education

Support a safer environment for young people and the wider community.
